KAY FLIERL...CONTEMPORARY ART
I have immersed myself in the creative world for over 25 years. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Landscape Design, then moved into advertising and graphic design, working for ad agencies and eventually owning my own business which I continue today. Along the way, I became determined to apply my creativity to the fine arts. It is in this realm that I have found my truest expression.
What propels me to paint? Cezanne says it best..."Emothion is the starting point the beginnning and the end." I have an equal appreciation for abstract and representational art, but in each finished canvas, I see the emotion felt while creating it. Painting helps me process life and each series represents another chapter. I passionately embrace the unique ability of an artist to put emotion into a visual context. For me, it is expressed through texture, color, pattern, beauty, playfulness and subject matter. While emotion drives the process, the inspiration for each piece, whether plein air or studio, is my love of people and the outdoors and all that God has created.
I have lived in the midwest, the south and the west, currently living life to its fullest in Denver, CO. Each place has infused its unique culture and environment into the person and artist I am today. I am a self-taught painter, observing and learning through exploration and inspiring fellow painters, but primarily listening to a voice within and a passion that carries me forward.
